How can you become a model??

Modeling the runways isn't just a women's game and male models are more prevalent today than ever. While you might picture Cindy Crawford when you think of the term "cat walk," commonly used to describe a model's slink down the runway, male models have to do this confident walk as well. If you are a man interested in strutting your stuff down a runway, learning how to walk the walk can help you be a success :

1. Keep your shoulders back and your chin up and parallel to the ground. Posture is integral for catwalking, as poor posture can make the entire outfit you're modeling look slovenly, and for men keeping shoulders back will enhance a broad physique. Keep your eyes focused straightforward, avoiding contact with the audience. Remember you are there to show off a look and not make a connection.

2 .Keep your biceps at your sides when you walk, but swing your forearms gently about 5 inches out in the front and back of you. You want a nice sway but not a pronounced swing to your arms and you want them to sway fluidly and not like an army cadet. Also remember to keep your fingers out and not clenched or stiff.

3. Take steps that are about a foot apart. You don't want to do long strides or hurried scoots across the runway. Place one foot in front of the other when you step and avoid walking with your feet spread wide apart, as this will make you look more like a waddling penguin than a slinking cat.

4. Keep a confident face about you and remember to keep your eyes straightforward. Unless otherwise advised, keep your facial muscles relaxed and do not smile or scowl. Take one long, deep breath just before you head out on the runway to help relax your body and facial muscles and keep your from tensing up.
